Mechanism of security

for pellet's delivery

English

The mechanism of locking of pellet's delivery, is designed as a security measure to prevent the ignition of the pellets in the tank of stove. In fact, for what concerns pellet-stoves, in case of the system's malfunction, the combustion of the pellets in the grate can propagate and climb through the duct supply of pellets, until it reaches the one contained in the tank of the stove,

creating an unstoppable rise in temperature caused by the pellet's combustion and, furthermore, there can be a consequent potential merger of the materials that compose the stove. The consequences (noxious fumes of carbon monoxide, but also fire) are relevant not only for material goods, standing near the stove, but also and above all, to human health. Abnormalities that this block-system is able to solve and avoid.

Analyze the folowing and hypothetical case: in a pellet-stove the ignition process has started and there are some malfunctions taht occur. The spark plug of the stove, placed near the brazier, continues, in vain, to ignite the pellets trying to bring it into combustion; at this stage the pallet in the tank is not affected by any combustion process. Although the system presents this anomaly, the loading device continues to deliver the pellets in the grate through the auger and the supply duct. Why? The stove's control unit, not perceiving the temperature's increasing of flue gas produced by the pellets in the grate by the sensor, "assumes" that the brazier is not running, and consequently it continues to deliver the pellet; (photo on the right)

then it increases in terms of quantity until it fills the whole amount of the brazier. After about 15 minutes (normally the time in the control unit preset by the producers of stoves in case of power failure to the brazier) the controller stops the supply system of pellet. Notwithstanding, the smoke-extraction-system continues to function, helping to ventilate the pellets in the grate. Under these conditions, certain quantities of pellets, which are located in the brazier, fully loaded, come in slow combustion;

combustion that propagates slowly upwards, affecting not only all the pellets contained in the compartment of the brazier, but also in delivery and in the cochlea duct (photo left). The process leads to the burning of all the pellets in the tank of the stove until it reaches temperatures of 800-900 degrees. This leads to a progressive dilatation and partial melting of the materials that make up the stove, until the trigger that causes the fire.

The mechanism of pellet's locking and dispensing allows to avoid such anomalies. In fact the device closes, once activated, the duct delivery pellet, interrupting the supply of pellets, with a possibly cutting / shearing of pellets along the path of the blade. In this way, the pellet contained the hearth is separated from the one the cochlea and the one in the heater in the tank, preventing the propagation of combustion. (Photo on the left)
